The
Hotel Restaurant " Pomieri " is found in a place
of rare beauty, in fact it is situated in the heart of the
" Park of the Madonie" (Piano Battaglia - 1572
m.). It is surrounded by iced mountains, forests, valleys,
all contained by four slopes totally different among them.
To the north there are the coast, the sea, that with its
mythical influence, makes woody and damp the northern slope.
To the south instead, bare hills are extended and burnt
by the scorching sun, absorbed in a landscape of strong
suggestion. To the west there are dense woods and vertical
precipice walls, and finally, to the east there are highlands
and high ground that are followed, giving life to an unique
and unmistakable panorama. You can advance in these uncontaminated
places making some excursions (also guided), choosing the
routes that more fascinate you, among the tallest peaks
in Sicily: Pizzo Carbonara(1979 m.), Mountain Salvatore(1912
m.), Mountain Ferro(1906 m.), Portella Arena(1547 m.), Piano
Sempria(1912 m.). Piano Battaglia is a famous place of summer
and winter vacation, center of the only skiing complex of
Western Sicily, where it's possible to make background skiing.
To the feet of " Parco delle Madonie " there are
some towns that should be visited for their architectural
beauties and pannings that countersign them: Petralia Sottana,
Petralia Soprana, Castellana Sicula, Polizzi Generosa, Geraci
Sicula, Gangi. Easily attainable from the Hotel Restaurant
" Pomieri" there are Piazza Armerina, that will
surprise you for its inestimable mosaics of " Villa
del Casale " and Cefalù, famous for its beaches
and Cathedral.
